PSGA IAIN Salatiga Focuses on PPRG in Gender Mainstreaming

SALATIGA – Center for Gender and Child Studies (PSGA) of State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga has begun to focus on Gender Responsive Planning and Budgeting (PPRG) in aligning academic systems and pre-facility facilities with Gender Mainstreaming (PUG).

In support of the PUG, PSGA of IAIN Salatiga organized a Socialization of Islamic Education on Gender Responsive Planning and Budgeting (PPRG) held in the meeting room of K.H Ahmad Dahlan building, Campus III, on Wednesday (18/07). The socialization was attended by 80 participants consisting of all officials in IAIN Salatiga.

According to the Chairman of Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M), Dr. Adang Kuswaya, M.Ag., says that in fact this socialization activity was one of the series of activities that had been carried out previously. “Because this activity actually started in June and started from making modules, socializing, then sharing with several PTKIN in Central Java, there will be a workshop as a follow-up to recommend to the Ministry of Religion so that in October the results of the report can be completed, “He said.

More clearly, Vice Chancellor I for Academic and Institutional Development, Dr. Agus Waluyo, M.Ag. in his speech, open the socialization said Prof.’s presence. Dr. Moh. Isom Yusqi, M.Ag. is expected to provide guidance on gender-responsive PPRG. Gender responsive has become a special program in several ministries including Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The Vice Chancellor I also added, that in the context of PTKIN had been given a special mandate to develop PPRG by the Ministry of Religion. “While according to the existing data there are 12 PTKIN including 3 in Central Java in 2016. While at IAIN Salatiga in 2017 they have not been intense with PPRG, but they have designed the program and this year IAIN Salatiga hopes to concentrate on PPRG,” he added.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Moh. Isom Yusqi, M.Ag., in his presentation said that there were several things in the PPRG process to be gender responsive. Among of them, the Gender Analysis Pathway (GAP), Gender Budget Statement (GBS) which then began Gender Responsive Budgeting and Planning (PPRG) supported by instruments and planning.

“In the PPRG process, instruments are needed to overcome the differences or access gaps, then planning that considers four aspects, such as: roles, access, benefits and controls carried out equally between women and men, and finally planning that needs to consider aspirations, needs and problems of women and men, both in the process of preparation and in the implementation of activities, “he explained.
