History

Since its establishment to date, STAIN Salatiga has passed a long history, and has undergone several institutional changes. The establishment of this institution, stems from the ideals of Salatiga Islamic society to have Islamic Higher Education. Therefore established the Faculty of Education (FIP) Institute of Teacher Training and Education (IKIP) “Nahdlatul Ulama” in Salatiga. This institution occupies the building owned by the Foundation “Pesantren Luhur”, located at Jalan Diponegoro Number 64 Salatiga. This institution stands thanks to the support of various parties, especially the scholars and administrators Nahdlatul Ulama Central Java. was held simultaneously with the preparation of the establishment of IAIN Walisongo Central Java in Semarang. In order to meet the formal requirements, a founding committee, chaired by K.H., was established. Zubair and at the same time appointed as the Dean. At the same time as the establishment of IAIN Walisongo Central Java in Semarang, the Faculty of Tarbiyah Salatiga is proposed to be an IAIN branch of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. After a review by the review team formed by IAIN Sunan Kalijaga, finally the guidance and supervision of the Faculty Tarbiyah Salatiga submitted to him. This decision is based on the Letter of the Minister of Religion c.q. Directorate of Islamic Religious Higher Education No. Dd / PTA / 3/1364/69 dated November 13, 1969. When IAIN Walisongo Central Java in Semarang was established, Faculty of Tarbiyah Salatiga gained state status, and became IAIN Walisongo branch. Penegerian Tarbiyah Faculty IAIN Walisongo is based on the Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs No. 30 of 1970 dated April 16, 1970.
